New Work on Canvas: “Depth”

I do a lot of things. I’m trying to choose a couple of things, and focus on them, but it’s a struggle. What if I miss something? What if I was supposed to be good at that other thing, and instead I put in so many hours to this thing that I am only mediocre at?

Well, one thing that I keep coming back to, despite all the other things, is painting. I love art, and I love to art. I’ve had many phases and styles and explorations over the years – many different focuses and mediums. At this particular time, I’m focusing on quick-dry acrylics and geometric precision – as that works well with:

  • My busy life-requirements
  • My in-and-out focus with painting
  • Having kids

A new piece

This new painting, titled “Depth”, aims to communicate complex simplicity. Ultimately, I was attempting to convey the concept of unexpected depth in simple objects or experiences. Featuring clean lines, a limited, dichromatic palette with subtle angular symmetries, “Depth” is a metaphor for understanding everyday complexity in a straightforward manner – or perhaps – a longing desire to be able to do so.
